Feelin’ hot hot hot!

We hope everyone is managing to stay cool in the blazing summer heat we’ve had lately. In the New England area we are experiencing a heat wave, making temperatures rise up into the 90’s. Pretty soon we’ll be back in Charleston where it is sweltering and humid. As we get ready to get back to the 29420, here are some things we’ve been doing to stay cool.

  1. Chug, chug, chug…WATER of course. This one cannot be stressed enough. Hydration is so important, especially in the heat of the summer.
  2. I scream, you scream, we all scream for ICE CREAM! This tasty frozen treat will cool you down in no time (and ice cream shoppes are sometimes air conditioned).
  3. Go to the gym. Seriously, this one is true, your local gym will be ice cold to outlast the summer heat. Go werk werk werk while you cool down!
  4. Get to the beach, lake, or pool.
  5. Choose cotton. Cotton is the most breathable fabric, so wear it and change your sheets to clean cotton ones.
  6. Cold compresses. Need to chill out super fast? Apply cold compresses to your pulse points (neck, wrists, behind the knees).
  7. Take a cold shower
  8. Float! On a boat if you can, a floaty, or a paddle board. Being in the middle of the water is naturally cooler.
  9. Make a frozen drink! See our Strawberry Sangria recipe.
  10. Embrace the heat. Sweating is annoying, but is a defense mechanism your body uses to beat the heat. And keep in mind that however hot it is outside, you’ll be wishing for this weather in the dead of winter.
